In a joint statement, IOM´s Director-General Amy Pope was received by Mexican Foreign Secretary Alicia Bárcena and Undersecretary Arturo Medina, on her first visit to Mexico.
Amy Pope said that both sides agreed upon the establishment of five new working groups to complement the Inter-Ministerial Commission for Integral Attention in Migratory Matters, and Mexico will host a regional conference on regular migration channels.
IOM is part of the United Nations System and is the intergovernmental organization that has been promoting humane and orderly migration since 1951 for the benefit of all.
During the meeting, official delegations availed themselves of this opportunity to debate on options and challenges posed by human mobility, while recognizing the significance of multi-stakeholder partnerships, including private sector, in the current context.
