The Mexican newspaper published a message by the Cuban leader on X in reference to the condemnation made on Tuesday by AMLO in his morning press briefing regarding the economic US measures as part of the attempts to overthrow the revolutionary government.
“Few around the world understand the goal and impact of the #BlockadeGenocidal against #Cuba, as Andrés Manuel López Obrador, whose administration in favor of all the peoples of Our America is only comparable to his impressive work to transform #Mexico. Thank you, brother,” Díaz-Canel posted on X.
As he has done many times before, AMLO condemned the U.S. policy imposed on Cuba when was asked about his 10-point proposal to Joe Biden on migration and referred specifically to the fourth one in which he addresses the case of Cuba.
AMLO recalled that the Republicans are apparently making the vote conditional on anti-Mexican immigrant measures, in other words, they want to use us as a bargaining chip, and he warned them that this policy is not going to work because it has more to do with electoral issues. It is an inter-party game that Americans should be aware of, he said.
Besides, AMLO added, by what right do you blockade a country? That is a violation, not only of international law, but also of human rights.
Imagine, he added, ‘I blockade you so that your people do not have even the basics and rebel against you, remove you as a government and I, or my allies, can dominate that country’. No, no country has the right to subjugate another.
The policy of ‘America for the Americans’, recommended by Monroe, has to change; we cannot talk about vital spaces of complete domination of America, there has to be respectful treatment, there has to be independence, there has to be sovereignty, and we can understand each other very well, he affirmed.
