According to García, Cuba does not give up surpassing three million foreign holidaymakers, for which it is critical to rise air connectivity.
Cuba is also proposed to diversify markets, confront smear campaigns, improve services, expand options and offer facilities and incentives to Cubans living abroad, in line with the country’s policy of strengthening relations with nationals abroad, among other actions.
Speaking at Mesa Redonda TV program, García said Cuba received 2,436,980 visitors in 2023, so it meant a growth of over 800,000 tourists compared to 2022.
Cuba is too optimistic despite its complicated scenario posed by the U.S. blockade – he said – and pointed out that Washington’s unilateral policy and the arbitrary inclusion of Cuba in the States Sponsor of Terrorism (SSOT) list significantly affect tourism activity.
Despite such a situation, Cuba is planning to grow in 2024, a perspective that encourages the air reconnection reached with 50 airlines in 2023.
