“It is commendable that these presidential elections are being held within all the borders of Azerbaijan, which are recognized by the international community and international institutions,” Panahov noted, referring to the possibility of voting in regions such as Nagorno-Karabakh.
“I believe that this evening, the Azerbaijani people will be happy to witness the successful completion of these processes,” the CEC chairman added.
Panahov also noted that all polling stations in this country opened on wenesday without problems, and a large turnout of voters was observed in them.
Initially scheduled for 2025, these elections were brought forward in a surprise move after President Ilham Aliyev issued a decree to that effect in December, less than two months after signing a ceasefire agreement with the separatist authorities of Nagorno-Karabakh.
