China, Norway promote enterprising cooperation despite differences

Beijing, Feb 6 (Prensa Latina) Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide, who is on an official visit to this country this Tuesday, and his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, agreed to promote enterprising cooperation despite differences between the two nations.

During a meeting, the two top diplomats also stressed the importance of mutual respect, multilateral coordination, adherence to openness and inclusiveness and advocated for the promotion of global peace and prosperity.

“You are the first European foreign minister to visit China in 2024, which shows the importance Norway attaches to China, and the relations between the two countries have maintained a forward momentum,” the Chinese diplomat said.

Eide, in turn, reaffirmed the adherence to the one-China policy, advocated for mutual respect and further development of bilateral relations through constructive dialogue.

The Norwegian official visit will conclude on Wednesday, February 7. It is focused on multi-sectoral cooperation, including trade, green development, and climate change.
