On the social network X, Minister of Foreign Affairs José Manuel Albares expressed the Spanish Government’s support.
Shocked by the terrible fires ravaging Chile again, leaving dozens of fatalities, the Foreign Minister wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
Official sources reported that 165 forest fires remain active in ten regions in the south of the country, including Valparaiso, where the chain of fire that started on Friday reached the suburbs of the nearby city of Viña del Mar, where 112 people were killed.
Since the earthquake of 2010, the current disasters have become the most tragic event in Chile.
The National Disaster Prevention and Response Service indicated that in the Valparaíso area, more than 8,500 hectares are under fire.
Albares stressed that Chile, his government and his counterpart, Alberto Klaveren, ‘can count on Spain’s support in these complicated times.’
