The Coast Guard of the Jamaican Defense Force confiscated the boat’s cargo and arrested two Jamaican men in an area known as a vector used for illicit trafficking between Jamaica and Haiti.
Noting that the drugs-for-arms trade between Jamaica and Haiti continues to be one of the main sources of such devices for gangs on the island, the Defense Force stated that this recovery has prevented the possibility of a significant number of illegal weapons returning to the country’s shores.
The security forces will continue to be relentless in their fight against illicit trafficking, it asserted in a statement.
