The sales of US military equipment to other governments in 2023 reached a record of 238 billion dollars, according to data from the US Department of State, Rodríguez wrote on his X account.
The head of Cuban diplomacy noted that this business benefits the US economy, which promotes international conflicts under the maxim of “more wars, more business, the more deadly (the weapons), and the more lucrative.”
According to several sources, Washington increased its dominance last year as the world’s largest arms dealer, and its sales increased by 14 percent in the five years from 2018 to 2022 compared to the previous five-year period.
The Sweden-based International Institute on Peace Education (IIPE) reported that the US arms trade with some 103 nations accounted for 40 percent of all sales during that period.
An estimated 41 percent of that trade went to troubled or unstable countries in the Middle East, the IIPE study pointed out.
