Beijing’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, Zhao Zhiyuan, made the remarks during this weekend’s Chinese New Year celebrations in Addis Ababa, the state-own mass media company reported.

Zhao said that cooperation in trade, investment, infrastructure, agriculture, communication, finance, culture, education, and other fields will continue to gain momentum, noting that both nations have upgraded their relations to an all-weather strategic partnership as Ethiopia has recently joined BRICS, a bloc of states comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.

“We will work together to implement the initiatives of Global Development, Global Security , and Global Civilization, and also strengthening practical cooperation in the joint building of the BRICS and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation,” he said.

Zhao reaffirmed China’s commitment to shouldering its responsibilities as a significant power and always adheres to peaceful development and mutually beneficial cooperation with countries around the globe.
