Iraq denies prior coordination in US airstrikes

Baghdad, Feb 3 (Prensa Latina) The Iraqi government on Saturday denied any prior coordination with the United States to attack Akashat and Al-Qaim cities, in violation of national sovereignty.

According to the spokesman Bassem Al-Awadi, Washington deliberately deceived the facts by announcing a previous coordination to commit such an aggression, which caused the death of 16 citizens and 25 wounded.

The United States intended to deceive international public opinion and evade legal responsibility for this unacceptable crime, Bassem Al-Awadi stressed.

At the same time, Al-Awadi stressed that such an action will bring security in Iraq and the region to the brink, and undermine the country’s efforts to establish stability.

On this point, Al-Awadi reiterated Baghdad’s refusal to allow its lands to be a stage for settling scores and endorsed the national responsibility to protect the nation.

In this regard, he indicated that the presence of the International Coalition, diverted from its assigned tasks, constitutes a reason for threat to security and stability in the territory.
