She stressed that the trade union centers have participated in the study for the evolution of the national minimum wage, something that requires great care so as not to distort the economy.
“We cannot set it without taking into account the business community, the micro, medium and large enterprises. If we accept that the minimum wage is 300,000 kwanzas, for example, we have to be able to pay our domestic workers. It is not just a government issue,” said the minister, who was quoted by Angop.
Dias pointed out that everything is being studied to elaborate a formula to calculate the national minimum wage, for which it is necessary to listen to social stockholders and business groups, to avoid “dynamiting” the country’s economy.
Last January 26, the National Union of Angolan Workers – Trade Union Confederation, the General Central of Free and Independent Trade Unions of Angola and the Trade Union Force of Angola threatened to hold a general strike in March if negotiations with the Executive fail.
