The FSU-Snuipp, the leading primary school teachers’ union, estimates four out of ten teachers will participate in the strike nationwide and 65 percent in Paris.
Other organizations, including members of the General Confederation of Labor (CGT), Workers’ Force, and SUD-Education, participated in the strike, which was convened in late 2023.
Demonstrators in several French cities and Paris joined the strike, where a teachers’ march is expected to reach the Ministry of Education.
Since Prime Minister Gabriel Attal took office last month, he set education a national priority, a position in which the sector demands concrete responses in a scenario of inflation and teacher shortages.
