The Ministry of Mining and Energy, for example, warned about the operational risks for electric networks, especially for those of regional distribution that are part of the Regional Transmission System (STR), in rural areas with a high density of vegetation.
According to a statement issued by the ministerial entity, high temperatures cause dilatation in electric distribution lines which, in the presence of strong winds, represent a significant risk of causing electric arcs, which, when interacting with dry branches of vegetation, may cause forest fires.
In this context, and in order to avoid the proliferation of fires, the institution made an urgent appeal to mayors, governors and Regional and Local Transmission System Network operators to adopt preventive and risk management measures.
It urged the authorities to implement protocols for the constant monitoring of electric grids, as well as to establish specific actions for the pruning of trees in the easing areas of medium voltage grids, especially in rural areas.
