The foreign minister remarked during the 2024 New Year’s reception, in which diplomats accredited here, representatives of international organizations, and heads of several Chinese government departments attended the event.

In his speech, Wang said that China’s diplomatic service has risen to challenges and forged ahead with a great sense of responsibility over the past year. The diplomat reiterated China’s support for peace talks between different nations and reaffirmed Beijing’s commitment to be an essential force in safeguarding world peace and to continue to be a powerful engine for global economic recovery.

Wang also recalled that 2024 marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and is crucial for the advancement of Chinese modernization on all fronts.

He reaffirmed that China stands ready to work with other countries “to cement the foundation of peace and security, unite strength for friendship and cooperation, follow the path of multilateralism, and build a future of development and prosperity.”
