Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin reacted in this way to the inclusion of a dozen Chinese entities on a list published by the Pentagon, qualifying them as alleged collaborators of the Chinese military sector.
“We firmly oppose the generalization of the concept of national security by the United States, the establishment of discriminatory lists under various names, the unreasonable suppression of Chinese companies, and the undermining of normal economic and trade cooperation between China and the United States,” the spokesman emphasized.
The Foreign Ministry of China urged Washington to immediately rectify discriminatory practices and provide Chinese companies with “a fair, equitable and non-discriminatory environment” to operate.
Beijing has repeatedly rejected the United States’ abuse of the concept of national security with the “true goal of suppressing the development” of China.
The Foreign Ministry also denounced Washington’s coercion of other nations to repress Chinese companies.
Beijing recently accused the United States of unjustifiably suppressing domestic semiconductor companies, calling these acts a sign of economic coercion.
Bilateral tension over trade disagreements was one of the main topics of the talks, last November, between the Presidents of China, Xi Jinping, and the United States, Joe Biden. Both agreed to maintain better communication between the two countries in order to return bilateral ties to the path of stability.
