In a press conference, Aragonés commented that Catalonia is suffering “the worst drought of the last century”. He detailed that there have been records in the pluviometers, and said “we have never faced such a long and intense drought”.
The level of the reservoirs, which accumulate water for use in the driest months, dropped by 16 percent, something that happened in the last few days, in addition to the fact that in the last three years rainfall was below normal.
The first stage of the emergency phase, of three planned, is now being applied, which will involve increased restrictions, especially for agricultural irrigation, limited to 80 percent.
