UN denounces increase in attacks by Israeli settlers in the West Bank

Ramallah, Jan 31 (Prensa Latina) The UN denounced that since the beginning of the new cycle of violence in the occupied territories on October 7th, 447 attacks by Israeli settlers against the Palestinian civilian population in the West Bank were reported.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) stated in its most recent report that Palestinian victims were reported in 48 of these incidents. In another 372, there were damages to Palestinian-owned properties, and victims and damage in 57.

One third of the settlers attacks since October 7th were carried out with firearms, including shootings, OCHA said.

The agency revealed that “in almost half of all incidents recorded after October 7th, Israel soldiers accompanied or supported the attackers.”

1,229 attacks by Israel’s settlers were recorded in the West Bank In 2023, including East Jerusalem, it noted.

The Israeli press revealed that Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet plans to deliver anti-tank missiles to settlers in occupied Palestinian territories, despite global rejection to that expansionist policy.
