Truth, Bousquet said, is constant and immutable, and our mission is to put ourselves permanently at its service.
In statements to Prensa Latina (PL), Bousquet, native of Saint Lucia, supported the recent international forum “New Operation Truth”, organized by PL, which was attended by over 60 media outlet executives from some 30 countries.
The attendance was multi-continental, with the great common denominator of the South-South perspective, Bousquet added, while pointing out it played a key and timely role, since it was held to coincide with the assassination of 117 journalists covering the Israeli war over Gaza.
Bousquet, an experienced lecturer and analyst, stated these events underscored the “pressing need for the permanence of truth and Operation Truth”.
Operation Truth, he said, must not only be a project, but it must connect the past and the present with the path towards the future. In this regard, he called for strengthening cooperation among Latin American and Caribbean media outlets, as well as with the rest of the world.
The Caribbean journalist recalled the significance of the original Operation Truth, which was attended by 400 journalists, called 65 years ago by Cuban leader Fidel Castro ahead of the hostile smear campaigns against the newly-formed Cuban Revolution.
Plus, Bousquet met on Wednesday with PL President Luis Enrique González with whom he exchanged standpoints on the strengthening of news links between the Latin American and Caribbean media outlets to fight off disinformation and fake news.
