Ethiopia attends first meeting as a BRICS member in Russia

Addis Ababa, Jan 31 (Prensa Latina) Ethiopia is participating in its first meeting as a member of the BRICS Group (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa), which is taking place in Moscow, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Wednesday.

Mamo Esmelealem Mihretu, Governor of the National Bank and Government Representative to BRICS, and Mesganu Arga, State Minister of Foreign Affairs and Second Advisor, lead the Ethiopian delegation.

Mihretu reaffirmed Addis Ababa’s commitment and willingness to work closely with the members of the Economic Group to strengthen the economic partnership, in addition to participating in the implementation of the Economic Partnership Strategy.

He noted that such membership would provide a unique opportunity and much-needed impetus to further develop economic relations with BRICS members, both at the group level and bilaterally, after ensuring stable and predictable market access.

The meeting is taking place under the theme “Strengthening Multilateralism for Equitable Global Development and Security” from January 29 to February 2.

Etiopía asiste a primera reunión como miembro del Brics en Rusia

Addis Abeba, 31 ene (Prensa Latina) Etiopía participa en su primera reunión como miembro del grupo Brics (Brasil, Rusia, India, China y Sudáfrica) que sesiona en Moscú, informó hoy el Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores local.

La delegación etíope está encabezada por el gobernador del Banco Nacional y representante gubernamental ante el Brisc, Mamo Esmelealem Mihretu, y el ministro de Estado de la Cancillería y segundo asesor, Mesganu Arga.

Mihretu reafirmó el compromiso y la disposición de Addis Abeba para trabajar estrechamente con los miembros del grupo económico para fortalecer la asociación económica, además de participar activamente en la implementación de la estrategia de Asociación Económica.

Precisó que esa membresía brindará una oportunidad única y un impulso muy necesario para desarrollar aún más las relaciones económicas con los miembros del Brics, tanto a nivel del grupo como bilateralmente, al garantizar un acceso estable y predecible al mercado.

La reunión se lleva a cabo bajo el lema “Fortalecer el multilateralismo para un desarrollo y una seguridad globales equitativos” y transcurrirá del 29 de enero al 2 de febrero próximo.
