The organizers of the congress confirmed, at a press conference held the day before, the attendance of ministers and vice ministers from 14 countries, 36 international university organizations and associations, and 18 associations of rectors from Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe, the United States and China.
According to the president of the Scientific Committee, Doctor in Science, Ondina Leon, the more than 2,000 participants will be in the gathering, mostly from higher education institutions from all over the country, which previously held grassroots events where some 5,000 presentations were discussed.
The Cuban side will present research not only from the 22 universities of the Ministry of Higher Education (MES), but from almost all the 50 existing in the nation, which will address issues such as the link between the university and society, the role of academia in local development, technological innovation, among other topics, she said.
