The DFLP expressed deep surprise at the swift action undertaken by Washington and its partners to cut funding to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Middle East (UNRWA).
The decision was announced following Israel’s accusations about the alleged participation of several UNRWA members in the Al-Aqsa Flood on October 7th.
Although both the agency and the UN announced a swift investigation to determine the veracity of those claims, several Western powers, including Germany, France and the United Kingdom, stopped the delivery of aid.
“This action threatens not only the interests of the Palestinians in Gaza, but also the future of the refugee issue and their rights to return to their homes and property”, the Front warned, and highlighted the indifference of these nations towards the recent ruling of the International Court of Justice in Hague, which is investigating Israeli crimes in the Gaza Strip.
It also denounced the fact that the White House project for the region is based on canceling the right of return of the hundreds of thousands of Palestinian refugees.
Given this situation, the DFLP called on the Palestinian people, both in the occupied territories and in the diaspora, to undertake political and mass actions to raise awareness about the issue and reject the measure against UNRWA.
