In an emotional activity, organized by the board of directors of the school located in New Delhi, the students played the leading role in the Homage to Martí, which included the laying of a wreath by members of the Cuban mission in India in front of a bust of the Cuban hero.
Previously, the embassy officials, the Chargé d’Affaires a.i., Abel Aballe, and the third secretary Malena Rojas talked with the school management in a cordial and affectionate atmosphere.
Aballe highlighted passages of Cuba’s history and Martí’s key participation in the struggles for independence of the Caribbean nation against Spanish colonialism.
He also took the opportunity to highlight the historical coincidences between India and Cuba in their decolonization processes, and the confluence of interests that can contribute to greater bilateral collaboration.
The school, only one in India with the name of the Cuban patriot, has more than 1,300 students of primary and secondary education attended by a staff of 72 teachers.
