‘Although the circumstances are complex, it will be a magnificent opportunity to present, among many issues, a Development Plan with new concepts, with changes in the economic model, an impact on culture,’ José Rodríguez, director of the Office of the City Historian (OHCC), said at a press conference.

Precisely, at the event, to be held at the Santa Cecilia Convention Hall, the Plan will emphasize creativity associated with intellectual property, ‘in search of potentialities in that heritage section,’ according to Maria Carmenates, director of the Office’s Master Plan. Some 130 researchers from the entire Network of Offices of the Historian and Curator from all over the country will participate in the Symposium, which will also feature presentations by experts from Uruguay, Ecuador, Mexico and France.

The opening of the event on February 1 will be dedicated to Eusebio Leal Spengler (1942-2020), ‘a visionary of what the city of Camagüey could become in terms of heritage, as well as a connoisseur of the city and loved by the people, Rodriguez said.
