According to the Antigua Observer newspaper, the presentation of the film on February 12 and 17 at the prestigious U.S. event is a milestone for the independent company HaMafilms in its festival circuit.

Speaking about the event, producer Mitzi Allen expressed the team’s enthusiasm and said that the event provides an opportunity not only to share the work they have done, but also to establish contacts with some of the industry’s key players.

Deep Blue highlights many of the problems faced by people in developing countries, especially within the African diaspora, director Howard Allen, who expressed his pride at the film’s inclusion in the official selection, said.

Focusing on the tensions surrounding development practices and marine conservation, the production was shot entirely on location in Antigua and Barbuda and features a cast from Antigua and Barbuda, the United Kingdom and Canada, with Peter Williams and Kim Huffman in the lead roles.

Previously, the film had successful screenings at the Commffest global gathering in Toronto last September, as well as at the international film festivals in Trinidad and Tobago and Belize a month later.
