In a statement, the Ministry called on the international community to enforce the ICJ ruling concerning the lawsuit filed by South Africa against Israel for genocide in Gaza.
In that regard, it rejected the subjection of Palestinians to inhumane living conditions, depriving them of food, water and medicine with the aim of forcing them to migrate forcibly out of the Gaza Strip.
Incidentally, the Ministry regretted that the ICJ measures did not include compelling Israel to an immediate ceasefire as a first step on the roadmap to finding a fair and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue.
The Foreign Ministry also called to support the establishment of an independent Palestinian State with East Jerusalem as its capital, according to the relevant UN resolutions.
Presidential Candidate Suleiman Frangieh, in turn, pointed out that the ICJ decision in the South African lawsuit against Israel is a victory of good over evil and justice over crime. Frangieh, who is also the leader of the Marada movement, considered the ruling a legal triumph for the Palestinian issue and a condemnation of Tel Aviv by the highest authorities of international justice.
Meanwhile, the leader of the Free Patriotic Current, Gebran Bassil, described the Court’s ruling against Israel as a historic decision that is a flagrant confirmation of genocide in Gaza.
On his X account, the lawmaker commended South Africa’s efforts and expressed optimism over achieving truth and justice.
