The traditional March of the Torches, led by the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Raúl Castro, President Miguel Díaz-Canel, and other government authorities, took place in Havana on Saturday evening.
During the march, thousands of students from different education levels, youths, and people in general marched in a show of fidelity to the Apostle’s ideas and as a tribute to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.
The march started at the steps of the University of Havana and ended at the Martí Forge, a place where the Cuban hero spent several months after being sentenced to forced labor by the Spanish colonial regime in 1870.
As part of the commemorations, keynote speeches, forums, workshops, exhibitions by visual artists, contests, and other social network initiatives have taken place in the last few weeks to promote and disseminate Martí’s legacy.
