Professors, artists, scientists and emigrants in general attended the meeting, at which they asked questions about how to intensify relations between Cubans who live here and those who reside abroad.
They were also interested in the process of documents such as passports and the possibilities of academic, cultural and scientific exchanges.
Some participants told Prensa Latina about Cuba’s relations with young people born abroad, whose parents are Cuban and who feel and identify as such.
The meeting, held at the Cuban Mission at the United Nations, contributed to discussing topics from the 4th Conference on the Nation and Emigration held in Havana in November 2023, and especially to update and listen to opinions from those who could not attend the meeting at the time.
The meeting was chaired by Cuba’s first deputy foreign minister and permanent representative at the UN, Gerardo Peñalver, and was attended by Alternate Representative and Ambassador Yuri Gala, as well as Cuba’s vice consul in the United States, Tatiana Martínez , among other officials.
A similar exchange will take place on February 2 in Washington, DC.
