Valdés Mesa, in transit through Ethiopia from Zimbabwe, arrived at the Havana embassy here along with the delegation that accompanies him, the members of the Cuban diplomatic and state mission to remember the Apostle of Cuban independence.
“At the Embassy of #Cuba in Ethiopia, during a transit stop through this country, we honored #Martí and his history. This January 28 we commemorate the 171st anniversary of the birth of the Apostle, whose legacy has transcended multiple peoples of the world,” the Cuban leader wrote on his account on the social network X.
José Martí was born on January 28, 1853 in Havana, Cuba, and became a poet, politician, essayist, journalist, founder of the Cuban Revolutionary Party and organizer of the war of independence, during which he died in combat on January 19. May 1895 at the age of 42.
Upon his arrival in the African country, the Cuban vice president was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Demeke Mekonnen.
