The National Union of Angolan Workers-Trade Union Confederation, the General Central of Free and Independent Trade Unions of Angola and the Trade Union Force of Angola are also demanding that the national minimum wage be raised from 38,000 to 250,000 kwanzas (about 293 dollars), which they consider has been ignored by the Government.
At a press conference, the general secretary of the Confederation of Independent and Free Trade Unions of Angola, Francisco Jacinto, regretted that no progress has been made in the talks with the Ministry of Public Administration, Labor and Social Security on the issue.
He pointed out that the petition presented in September, before the General State Budget for 2024 was approved in December, was not taken into account.
Jacinto confirmed that the three trade unions agreed on the national strike in March, due to the lack of consensus with the Government.
