Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Wang Wenbin stated that after the recent elections in Taiwan, the United States adopted “a series of negative words and actions to send a wrong signal” to the separatist forces in Taiwan.
“What the United States has done has violated the one-China principle and the provisions of the three joint dispatches, and the commitments made by US leaders,” Wang stressed.
The Foreign Ministry urged the US side to abide by what has been agreed between the two countries earnestly, “stop infraction and provocation immediately, stop making trouble for peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait, and stop sending wrong signals” to separatists.
An estimated 183 countries, including the United States, currently support the one-China principle, which outlines that the national territory, including Taiwan, is part of a single nation with its central government in Beijing.
