Paraguayans released occurred after an operation conducted on Tuesday in a rural property of the neighboring state, some 170 kilometers north of the Salto del Guaira City, northeastern Canindeyu Department, where there were victims of this regime, the newspaper added, based on Brazilian sources.
The exploited Paraguayans were working in subhuman conditions, analogous to slavery, Ultima Hora reported, according to an inspection by the Border Police Battalion of the Military and Federal Police, as well as officials from Brazil’s Labor Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The rescued Paraguayans, including four minors subjected to slavery, were transferred to a temporary shelter as investigations continue, the daily noted.
