Procedures have been initiated to move forward with the measure, Duda unfolded after meeting with the wives of the two politicians of the Law and Justice party (PiS), who interceded with the head of State to obtain their release as soon as possible.
Duda asked the Prosecutor’s Office and the Ministry of Justice to immediately start the procedure for the decision to be in force.
Earlier, the head of State defended the presidential pardon as a valid option ahead of what he considered an illegal withdrawal of the parliamentary immunity of the two politicians.
The measure deepens the differences with the Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who points to him as an accomplice of a crime of obstruction of justice, according to the local press.
