“There is no doubt that the president was inspired by the Operation Truth carried out by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, in 1959,” he said.

In January of that year Fidel summoned hundreds of journalists in Havana to inform what was happening in Cuba and to break the campaign of slander against the revolutionary process.

Osorio intervened in a virtual forum sponsored by Crónica Digital on the occasion of the New Operation Truth International Conference organized this week by Prensa Latina news agency in Havana, which brought together journalists from more than 30 countries.

The panel, moderated by the general editor of the Chilean alternative newspaper, Iván Gutiérrez, was also attended by the leader of the Chilean Journalists Circle and foreign correspondent, Margarita Bastías, and Prensa Latina correspondent Edgar Morales.

The professionals, among other topics, reflected on the control of the media by large consortiums, new technologies and news in Internet time.
