Minister Alabí appeared in the interview program Frente a Frente on Salvadoran Tele Corporación and affirmed that the country is in a “security zone” and that there is no evidence of a saturation in the hospital occupation due to respiratory diseases and that these affectations continue at normal levels in the country.
He specified that although there is an international alert for an increase of the pandemic and other respiratory diseases, in El Salvador, the levels of these affectations are in a “safety zone” within the endemic corridor.
Although he said there is no need to worry, he called on the population to take care of themselves, especially the elderly.
“The link centers have been reporting for some time the sub-variants of omicron and that allowed to intervene vulnerable groups with protection, I refer to the biologicals, including the influenza vaccine that is since last year and the bivalent Pfizer vaccine,” he said.
The minister added that there are other types of diseases that are not viral and the trend shows that we are in a zone of success, in pneumonia, and in respiratory diseases we are in a safe zone. “The occupation of hospitals for respiratory diseases is below 40 percent, he added.
Alabí pointed out that there are currently 18 adult patients hospitalized for coronavirus and one in pediatrics.
He also added that “the recommendation to use the mask is universal and is not only for coronavirus, but for any respiratory disease”.
