Marquez expressed, “Thank you Piedad Cordoba. Thank you for your courage, your love for Colombia and your dignified struggle. Thank you for never bending and for opening the path of politics to Afro-descendant women in this country.”
The authority noted, “we will continue raising her banners for social justice, peace and dignity, no matter how long it lasts and no matter what it costs,” in front of Cordoba’s coffin that rests in the Constitution Hall of the Congress of the Republic.
Meanwhile, seemingly endless lines were observed outside the legislative headquarters, to pay tribute to the defender of peace and human rights.
In the precinct, the governing party of the Historic Pact paid homage to one of the most outstanding women in Colombia for her political struggles who was illegally chased, a persecution that included illegal interceptions of communications, surveillance, and the disclosure of private and reserved information with the purpose of discrediting her.
