Foreign Ministry Spokesman Wang Wenbin also denounced Washington’s coercion against other nations to repress Chinese companies.
According to the spokesman, for some US politicians “anything promoted from China can be a threat and must be stopped by all means.”
He explained that Washington accuses China’s technology manufacturers of leaving a “back door” in their products and calls China’s cranes “Trojan horses” that collect intelligence.
“Perhaps shirts and socks are the only type of Chinese exports that do not threaten the United States,” he added.
Wang saw this as pure bullying and hegemonism, which “break the rules, play dirty with competitors and deprive other countries of their legitimate right to development.”
China recently accused the United States of unjustifiably cracking down on domestic semiconductor companies and called these acts a sign of economic coercion.
Washington placed telecommunications equipment companies on a blacklist that bans their products from entering the US market.
Bilateral tension over trade disagreements was one of the main topics of discussion between Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Joe Biden last November.
Both agreed to maintain better communication between the two countries on this and other issues to return bilateral ties to the path of stability.
