The visitor will be accompanied by members of his work team, in particular the commanders of the Police, Army, Aviation and National Navy.
Pino announced that he will present, to the visiting delegation, a broad overview of the actions that Panama carries out to control organized crime. They will also get acquainted with the strategies promoted by Colombia.
The objective of the meeting is to seek overall solutions, especially to confront migration and other crimes associated with it, during the transit of illegal travelers through the Darién jungle.
In February of last year, Panama and Colombia announced the construction of joint outposts in the Caribbean and the Pacific, which would be added to the three already existing in the jungle.
The target of the outposts is to reinforce and create a barrier to block coyotes and criminal gangs who extort illegal travelers, according to Pino’s statements during a visit to the Alto Limón Binational Post.
On January 12th, the Ministry of Security launched Operation Chocó II to reinforce security on the border with Colombia in the face of new migratory flows, heading to the United States.
