On a letter sent by Nicaragua’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to its Israeli counterpart, the Government called on Israel to put an end to attacks on the Palestinian people and to respect its obligations under the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Genocide.
“As a State party to the 1948 Convention, Nicaragua has a duty to prevent and punish genocide and a duty to cooperate to that end,” the document referred.
It added that Nicaragua will take all measures it deems appropriate in accordance with international law, to ensure respect for its rights and interests protected by the aforementioned convention, including recourse to the International Court of Justice.
