“On Friday we are going to talk about peace, Colombian peace in the first place, with all that this implies, and world peace,” the president of Colombia said when confirming his meeting with the Pope.
Shortly before his departure from Davos, Switzerland, where he participated in the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum, Petro pointed out that “the role of the Catholic Church in the construction of peace in Colombia has been exceptional so far.”
“It is my main help on Colombian territory, but we want to deepen it even more”, he asserted.
Pope Francis will receive the Colombian head of State on Friday in a private audience at the Vatican’s Apostolic Palace at 10:30 a.m., local time, according to the Holy See.
Petro met with the Pope in February 2022, when he was a presidential candidate.
