Nicaragua and the Eurasian Economic Commission signed a memorandum

Managua, Jan 18 (Prensa Latina) Nicaraguan officials signed a memorandum of cooperation and the plan of joint activities 2024-2027 with a visiting delegation from the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).

Presidential advisor Laureano Ortega highlighted the importance of signing the documents and working with the Eurasian Economic Union, as it is a market with more than 180 million inhabitants, in addition to being able to exchange and strengthen cooperation ties.

“It will allow us to exchange more information that is vital to be able to overcome barriers, get closer and strengthen cooperation and links in all economic and commercial fields, looking towards the future to what could be a Free Trade Agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union and Nicaragua,” he stressed.

The Minister of Development, Industry and Commerce, Jesús Bermúdez, who was the signatory for Nicaragua, reported that they will also promote tourism with the EEC and make known the broad potential of Nicaragua in this and other sectors.

In turn, the Minister for Integration and Macroeconomics of the EEC, Sergei Glazyev, referred to the mechanism outlined in the documents so that the business sector of each country gets acquainted with the other ones, and the state organizations of the member states can be impregnated with the understanding of how the rules are set out in the economy.

Glazyev highlighted the great potential of trade development to realize joint investments and develop cooperation and business contacts, as well as creating possibilities for a closer people to people contact.

The Nicaraguan authorities described the signing of the memorandum as the first step in the development of cooperation and trade relations between Nicaragua and the Eurasian Economic Union.
