In a joint press release, those organizations stated that “Yemen remains one of the world’s largest humanitarian crises, and the escalation will only worsen the situation for vulnerable civilians.”
They called on all stakeholders to prioritize diplomatic channels over military options to de-escalate the crisis and safeguard peace in the country. They urged to protect civilians and infrastructure and ensure unimpeded humanitarian assistance.
In the broader regional context, they also reiterate the call for an immediate and sustained ceasefire in Gaza to save lives and prevent further instability across the region. Those organizations recalled that after nearly nine years of war, more than 21 million Yemenis, over two-thirds of the population, “need food, water, and life-saving assistance.”
