The increase in the payments for this service was approved by this regulatory entity last December 28, to be in force from January 1 to June 30.
ASEP, who traditionally makes public the variation of the tariff schedule through a press conference, this time approved it with a very low profile.
According to the Head of the Economic and Financial Analysis Department of ASEP’s Electricity Department, approximately 74% of the customers (almost one million people) will not register an increase, except for the effect of the variation in the price of fuel, since they receive several subsidies and funds which mitigate the increase.
Rivas detailed that a customer with consumption of 300 kilowatts per hour (Kwh) per month, the estimated average price varies according to the distribution company that provides the service.
While the greatest impact in the increased costs of the electric service will be felt by those customers who consume over 300 kWh per month, standing out in this issue: companies, industries and commerce, who usually transfer this raise in prices to their services or products.
For ASEP, the increase in electricity rates is a consequence of the drought and the high price of gas and fuel, which is affecting the country’s energy production.
