At a meeting with Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis, the president insisted on increasing the volume of aid to the coastal enclave to address the serious humanitarian situation of its inhabitants, according to a statement issued by the Presidency’s spokesman, Ahmed Fahmy.
El-Sisi said that Cairo will continue to make every effort to support the people of the Gaza Strip and provide them with relief, while working to calm the situation.
On Wednesday, at a press conference along with his Greek counterpart, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry called for a halt to Israel’s aggression against the territory.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Defense and Military Production, Mohamed Zaki, reiterated Egypt’s condemnation of any plan by Israel to displace the Palestinian population from the occupied territories.
We oppose any plans to expel the Palestinians, Zaki said at a meeting here with the United Nations chief coordinator of Humanitarian Affairs and Reconstruction for Gaza, Sigrid Kaag, according to a military statement.
