The trial was scheduled to begin in May. A revocation appeal filed by the parties was granted, and the date was moved up to February 26.

Former high-ranking military officers, former President Alfredo Cristiani, and former congressman Rodolfo Parker, were accused of slaughtering six Jesuit priests and their collaborators.

The massacre was executed on November 16, 1989, and was approved by Cristiani and 11 military officers. Some held high posts in the structure of the armed forces.
