According to the organizing committee, in this forum, 245 friends of Cuba from 28 nations are participating, among them, political parties and solidarity groups from the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (Polisario), South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia, China, Russia, the United States, Canada, Iran, Mozambique, and Botswana.
Fernando Gonzalez Llort, Hero of the Republic of Cuba and President of the Cuban Institute for Friendship with Peoples (ICAP), leads his country’s delegation to the meeting, which will end on Wednesday, January 17.
The meeting’s motto is “Africa’s Global Commitment to the Cuban Revolution.”
Strengthening solidarity and international cooperation with Cuba for a new, fair, and better world order and deepening cultural exchanges, education, and collaboration in health are among the issues to debate.
On Monday, many participants analyzed in depth why the Global South peoples, mainly from the African continent, wanted to show their gratitude and solidarity with the Cuban people.
The attendees to this meeting included the African National Congress (ANC) Deputy President and Deputy President of South Africa Paul Mashatile and Prime Minister of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (Polisario Front) Bouchraya Bayoun, and other leaders.
