Salvadoran New Ideas party seeks votes from residents abroad

San Salvador, Jan 16 (Prensa Latina) The ruling New Ideas (NI) party is seeking to strengthen the votes from residents abroad in the February 4 elections, according to media reports.

In this regard, the vice president of the Government, Félix Ulloa, on leave for six months, moved his campaign to Virginia, the United States, where he met with Salvadoran residents there and Salvadoran community leaders in order to try to get their support at the polls.

A report by Diario El Salvador stated that the NI vice presidential candidate shared with his compatriots in the United States the government’s efforts to enable them to participate in the elections.

Nearly one million Salvadoran residents in the United States are eligible to exercise their right to vote in the elections where the NI candidate, Nayib Bukele, is accompanied on the ballot by Ulloa.

“During the meeting (held on Sunday) we talked about the rebirth of El Salvador and the new reality of peace that is lived in the communities, allowing reverse migration,” Ulloa wrote in his X profile. “I motivated them to accompany and support the people of El Salvador.

I motivated them to accompany and support President Bukele in this new term, said the vice president, who is trying to get the support from those voters, which has been encouraged unsuccessfully by other administrations.
