On Tuesday, a security operation was conducted in the center of Quito after 130 sticks of dynamite were found.
The explosives, according to official information, were left by unknown individuals at the foot of the main door of a community police unit.
Anti-explosives teams, Criminalistics and other security officers showed up on scene in order to remove the dynamite sticks, which was camouflaged in jute sacks.
Due to the large amount of explosives, the police were unable to carry out a controlled detonation, and it was taken to the police warehouses in the capital.
After this event that alarmed the population, Quito police held a meeting Tuesday morning to set surveillance operations in the area.
Quito Mayor Pabel Muñoz warned this is not a casual issue, it is the definition of a psychological war.
