The SPDI congratulated the Andean Council´s decision to meet together with the ministers of Security in the Peruvian capital, as a result of the criminal assault reported in Ecuador.
In a press release, SPDI pointed out that the meeting “is urgent and timely, as it is pivotal to have consensual responses based on recognition of the transnational nature of the threat posed by organized crime”.
SPDI also mentioned drug trafficking, as well as illegal mining and deforestation, human trafficking and migrant smuggling among modalities of this criminality.
According to SPDI, “circumstances affecting Ecuador is really a challenge for Andean sub-regional integration”.
