Ali Shoeib, correspondent for the local channel Al Manar, showed on his X account images of the Israeli bombardment using phosphorus against the city of Kafr Kila, as well as a Merkava tank opening fire on houses in that place. He also stated that Israeli artillery opened fire on the town of Mays al-Jabal, while another Merkava fired on a house in the border town of Abbasiya.
In the morning, Israeli aircraft bombed the outskirts of the city of Houla, and artillery shells fell on the Hamamis hill, south of Khiam, in the Marjayoun district.
According to the National News Agency, Israeli reconnaissance planes flew over villages in the western and central sectors from night to dawn and dropped flares over border areas adjacent to the Blue Line.
Last week, Lebanon presented a complaint to the United Nations Security Council denouncing the attacks using phosphorus projectiles launched by Tel Aviv in several areas of Aitaroun, Mais al-Jabal and Blida, in the south of the country.
As a consequence of the attacks, forest fires destroyed 50,000 olive trees, and civilians were affected by gas inhalation, in violation of international humanitarian law and amounting to war crimes.
The Lebanese Government reported to the UN that repeated Israeli bombings led to the displacement of more than 75,000 citizens from their homes. It also rejected Israel’s calls to extend its authority in areas near the Blue Line, and reiterated its commitment to self-defense and the pursuit of its legitimate rights through legal means, turning to the United Nations.
Lebanon demanded the full implementation of Resolution 1701, including the delimitation of recognized international borders and the halting of Israeli violations of national territory sovereignty and boundaries.
