Rome, Jan 16 (Prensa Latina) With the arrests of 29 people on Tuesday, Italian anti-drug forces dismantled an extensive drug trafficking network that included two gangs of the Camorra organization in the southern city of Naples, a spokesman said.

A spokesman for the Anti-Mafia District Directorate (DDA) of the Neapolitan Prosecutor’s Office said, in statements published on the website of the Corriere del Mezzogiorno newspaper, that some 100 kilograms of drugs, firearms and explosives were seized during in the operation, which was carried out by an anti-drug commando of the Carabinieri Arma.

DDA prosecutors charged the detainees with criminal association for drug trafficking purposes and drug possession, among other offenses.

During the investigations that led to the dismantling of the two criminal groups, information was provided by drug trafficker Bruno Carbone, who was arrested together with mafia boss Raffaele Imperiale in Dubai in 2022, after which both criminals began to collaborate with the justice system, the source added.

It noted that from Dubai, Carbone was in touch with his associates through the EncroChat and Sky-Ecc systems, but with the participation of French and Dutch police experts, it was possible to access the communications through these channels, which also provided relevant information on this case.
